A minivan is a vehicle with three rows of seating for at least six passengers and one defining characteristic that separates it from wagons and crossovers--a pair of sliding side doors. Minivans are downsized companions to full-size vans, and can also be bought in cargo trim--but most often are priced and packaged to be sold to families. Minivans also offer flexible seating systems, which enable the third-row and sometimes second-row seats to fold down, or to stow completely out of sight, under the vehicle's floor. Almost all modern minivans are front-wheel drive, and all have a rear tailgate hinged at the top, for easier cargo loading.
